If the remodelling of the yard by the Central Railway is completed within the next three months then the suburban trains passing by Thane station can move at double their existing speed.

According to the Central Railways plan to remodel the Thane yard, the diamond-shaped crossings will be removed and replaced with gentler turns which will improve the speed of the train at these crossings.

Tracks at kalyan will first be completed and then the tracks at CST will be worked upon to avoid rail traffic.

These changes will help CR save at least one minute per train hoping to pump in some extra services on this busy route.
